In maui, a lot of us rent homes. Homes in lahaina

In maui, a lot of us rent homes. Homes in lahaina can be especially hard to come by. Once we find a home, we hold onto it as long as we can and create an entire community in that home and neighborhood. Friends become family very quickly. Our whole world was in lahaina- all of us. They don’t allow renters insurance in a lot of these areas that burned down because they are in “flood zones”. 7 of the homes I have lived in throughout 11 years in lahaina burned down. 12 of the homes Jonathan has lived in since he was 16 years old have burned down. Once we left those homes, they passed on to more of our community aka family members. Lahaina is a small town, but so spiritually alive and everyone is very deeply connected. We all share common interests such as living the most simple life possible. It’s about all of those beach days with a dinner at home after outside in the grass. Kids playing in the streets. Spending all day at the harbor just walking boat to boat to see all our friends and play on the water. When you see an overwhelming amount of people with Venmo and go fund me and don’t know how to possibly support everyone, just know that if you are supporting anyone directly- it will no doubt be taking care of everyone. Lahaina is unique and incredible in that way- so special. When you are donating to any one person, you are donating to our community, our family. In lahaina, we are all family and our family is really really deeply hurting right now. Most will not be able to claim insurance on their homes, but we all take care of each other and we couldn’t do it without your support. Aloha everyone near and far, thank you for reaching out during this difficult time. We are processing and grieving and honestly still in shock. My husband and I are safe. Our home did not burn down. Our racing sail boat did burn down along with the entire fleet of boats in lahaina harbor. lahaina harbor and lahaina town is our whole life, our pride and joy. It’s our community, it’s our home and our family. It is all gone. More friends than we can even count lost their homes. They all have families and young children. We have friends who did not survive. Friends not accounted for. This is truly a nightmare. Lahaina is such a strong community and Maui has pulled together to be so supportive during this devastating time. For those of you asking how you can support, I will attach my Venmo. These donations can then be distributed amongst those I know need it most to rebuild their lives. It will go directly to over 20 of my closest friends who ran for their lives to make it out safe and lost everything. We don’t know what the future holds, but a little goes a long way in terms of financial security while trying to up and relocate all of our lives in the midst of tragedy. This way we can ensure the funds are properly distributed directly to those in need. We are still on west maui and resources haven’t been as readily available as the “news” says. Our maui community has come together stronger than you could ever imagine. It gives us hope. This is the first time I have had access to internet service. 💫As a little girl I played teacher and said that’s what I wanted to be when I grew up… yeah yeah I know, we ALL did that. I had no idea I actually meant it! 🙋🏼‍♀️

💫Education has always been a passion of mine. Working in the corporate world as an artistic educator was a great growing experience, but it didn’t fully suit me.

💫I have spent the last couple of years really digging inside to see what lights me up most. How can I be of service to others? Education came up again, but I didn’t want to educate for a large corporate company. I had a total AHA moment and realized I could share all of my knowledge with the stylists in the exact same industry as me! THAT LIGHTS ME UP!

💫Stylists I can relate to. Those out there doing the same exact thing as me every day who totally get it!

💫I took the LONG road in the bridal biz- let me tell you. Built from scratch myself with years of trial and error. It inspired me to create a program with all the shortcuts I wish I had. I had no idea how to do it before I learned. None of us do, that’s part of the fun!

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT- they say. There’s MORE to it though….🤙

Make sure you are practicing using techniques that will help you achieve your desired #hairgoals.

Here are my TOP techniques to practice to work more efficiently:

✔️stand on the side of where you want the style to go (if the bun is on the left, stand on the left when creating) makes world of a diff
✔️ creating the bun(s) will take the least amount of time when done with the right technique. 1. Rope braid 2. Pull apart 3. Pull one strand of hair VOILA- BUN in 5 seconds
✔️PREP- of course I use my 2-step-prep on every style
✔️leave out hair from the ears forwards every time. It’ll be your BFF later when covering holes, gaps, and unwanted anything.
✔️Face frame hair is decided last at the very end of the style.
✔️Don’t be afraid to move around the head a lot to check all angles. It must be balanced everywhere. Not just for your photo from the back 🤪

I prepped Molly’s hair before curling so they would last in the Maui heat for her adventure elopement. Prep doesn’t mean tons of hairspray at the end. It’s the opposite- no hairspray at the end. It’s all in the Prep 🤙

💫I have a special 2-step-prep that changed my LIFE. Once I started doing that, I could style hair in less than 15/20 minutes per girl without any hesitation. It gives a starting point and the rest flows

In what world does anyone want to work on hair that hasn’t been washed in a couple of days 🧐Full of product, ocean water, sand, and who knows what 🤪 Let’s spread the word.

CLEAN DRY HAIR. Clean meaning freshly washed. Dry meaning completely dry. From there, we can add allll the products in the world needed to get your style to stay!

I use my signature 2-step PREP process on Every.single.client to make sure we get all that grit and texture. From there, the styling is a breeze! No need to roller set the head like back in beauty school. There’s a more efficient way. BUT the hair needs to start CLEAN 💚

Body position is everything when styling! I never used to know where to stand when creating my styles. It may seem obvious, but it’s not. STAND WHEREVER YOU WANT THE HAIR TO GO 🤩 I hope this is someone’s A-HA moment 💃🏼

If you’re creating a side bun, stand on the side you want the bun to sit on. This way, as you direct all the hair over- your body position is set up to create the flow of the style. Life-changing when trying to get those twists and bun right where you want them without it looking tacky 💚
